The year 2017 was a disappointing one for Bollywood, but what benefited the most from it was the web space. Many industry stars embraced the digital medium by signing up for web series that have earned a substantial following in India over the past few years. From the nawab Saif Ali Khan to 2017’s most outstanding performer Rajkummar Rao, there has been no shortage of big names on our portable screens.
Saif Ali Khan – Sacred Games
Saif signed up for Netflix’s Indian show Sacred Games, which will be based on Vikram Chandra’s 2006 novel of the same name. He was spotted earlier this year in his turbaned avatar for the show as well.

Richa Chaddha and Vivek Oberoi – Inside Edge
Richa Chaddha and Vivek Oberoi starred together in Farhan Akhtar’s debut on the digital platform. The Amazon show, which explores corruption and scandals in league cricket, became an instant with India’s cricket-loving audiences.
Rana Daggubati – Social
Rana Dagubati joined the webseries world with this bilingual thriller that revolves around a girl who goes missing. He said he did it because the idea of being able to tell a story beyond cinema or television excited him.
