Priyanka and Dr Madhu Chopra’s Marathi production, Firebrand has been scheduled to premiere on Netflix on Feb 22. This film features distinguished Marathi actors like Usha Jadhav, Girish Kulkarni, Sachin Khedekar and Rajeshwari Sachdev. This is the first digital venture that the mother-daughter duo’s production house, Purple Pebble Pictures has made.

Besides, this project is Netflix’s first licensed original film in Marathi. Directed by National Award winner Aruna Raje, the film is headlined by Usha Jadhav and Girish Kulkarni.

The film follows the life of a successful lawyer played by Usha Jadhav, who is a sexual assault victim dealing with PTSD.  She is dealing with difficult family cases,  while also coping with intimacy issues in her own marriage. Jadhav is married to Girish Kulkarni, an architect who is portrayed by Madhav Patkar. This film revolves around trials and tribulations of contemporary modern day relationships.

In the press release, Priyanka Chopra said “The age of Digital has changed the way we consume content. Today, the story is king and audiences are open to and accepting of all kinds of genres. We scroll for content that appeals to our mood and mind, equally. This definitely was one of the major reasons behind our move of taking our latest Marathi project Firebrand straight to Netflix. A story like Firebrand deserves to reach audiences far and wide and I’m thrilled to be bringing this to Netflix.”
