5 tips for grooms to be

Getting married in the next few months? Designers Rimple and Harpreet Narula share a handy guide

1. The cut and style of your outfit should depend on your personality. Styles that are in this season include bandhgalas with Jodhpur trousers, embroidered bandi jackets paired with draped dhotis, sherwanis with long-pleated and crinkled kurtas, and sleeveless short sherwanis with kurtas and dhotis.

2. Colours that are currently trending include shades of taupe, ivory, ruby as well as cream, gold and chocolate brown.

3. Embellishments and embroidery depend on the preference of the groom. The options are endless – laser cut appliqués, traditional zardozi embroidery, gota work or tone-on-tone Kashmiri embroidery.

4. Comfortable footwear is absolutely essential because most brides and grooms are expected to stand for long periods of time and they may be asked to dance unexpectedly. A pair of custom-made Mojris in antique gold work are ideal.

5. Pay a lot of attention to your personal grooming as you will be posing for photographs all evening. A good shave isn’t all you need. Pay attention to your skin and hair care and if needed, go in for professional treatment. Book yourself into a spa a couple of days before the festivities and destress before taking the plunge.

– Rimple and Harpreet Narula will host a preview of their Amazon India Couture Week collection and take trousseau appointments at Aza, Bandra (W), Mumbai, on September 15 and 16.
