Volkswagen has just launched the updated version of its entry level sedan, the Vento with prices starting at Rs 7.7 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai). The car gets the same 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine that’s found in the VW Polo and produces 103 bhp of power and nearly 25 kgm of torque. There are also two other petrol options ranging between a 1.6 MPI and a 1.2 TSI both of which produce the same amount of power as the TDI, with varying levels of torque and ARAI tested fuel efficiency figures (18.19 kpl and 16.09 kpl, respectively)
Changes to the outside include reworked headlamps which merge with a new three-slat grille. The bonnet bulge gets two more well defined lines running up to opposing A-pillars while the air-dam on the bumper is more pronounced.
The car gets 2 gearbox options with a 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG which will be found in top end petrol diesel models (Comfortline and Highline) which are priced between Rs 9.68 to Rs 11.64 lakh. Interior changes include the addition of cruise control, a cooled glovebox and new interior trims. The car also gets foldable OVRMs, chrome highlights and redesigned alloys in the top end versions, making it look significantly more premium than before.
