Friends star Matt Leblanc confirmed yesterday that he is indeed, joining BBC’s Top Gear as a presenter alongside co-host Chris Evans (the British Radio star, not the actor who plays Captain America). Apart from being an actor Leblanc happens to be a proper petrolhead – the kind who can be found riding down Hollywood boulevard on a fancy motorcycle or a customised Porsche. The kind who really knows his stuff.
Leblanc is no stranger to speed, or Top Gear. After smashing the track’s ‘Star in a reasonably priced car’ record, Leblanc will be the first American presenter in the show’s history. Since the actor is best known for playing Joey Tribbiani on Friends, his fans couldn’t help but bring the two worlds together to give us a glimpse of what life would be like for Joey on Top Gear.

Jokes apart, hiring Leblanc sounds like a pretty good choice. Most people aren’t aware of Matt’s history as a thoroughbred petrolhead and so find the choice rather unusual. But Leblanc was a big reason why Friends became a household name, so his association with another household name cannot be a bad thing.
