The internet has been buzzing these days with celebrity videos popping up every day of them dunking themselves with ice cold water as a part of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. This is how it goes – You pour a bucket of ice cold water on yourself and nominate three people to do so too within 24 hours. If they fail to do so, they have to donate hundred US Dollars in support of ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease. This viral campaign is to increase awareness about the disorder and generate discussions with patients and their families. Around the world, from Jennifer Lopez to Oprah Winfrey, Mark Zuckerberg to Tom Hiddleton, numerous celebrities have posted their videos in the recent weeks.
In India, the first three videos are by Bipasha Basu, Abhishek Bachchan and Riteish Deshmukh. Basu wrote: ‘Accepted my best friend suzie’s #IceBucketChallenge! i am nominating RockyS and Raj Kundra!’ She, however, faced a few jibes about how small her bucket was. ‘Don’t judge the size of my ice bucket guys 🙁 had no voice and feverish and still did it! Made my friend happy 🙂 ’ said the actress, on Twitter. Riteish Deshmukh accepted Sania Mirza’s challenge and in turn nominated Abhishek Bachchan, Pulkit Samrat, Siddharth Malhotra and Akshay Kumar. Bachchan was the first to take the challenge up. Pulkit Samrat replied with – @Riteishd challenge accepted!! The bomb’s ticking!
