Netflix Teams With Phantom Films For Its First Indian Series Based On The Novel Sacred Games
Make way for a new Netflix series based on Sacred Games, the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel by Indian author Vikram Chandra. Shot in India, this Hindi/English series will be produced in partnership with Phantom Films, which has delivered hits such as Lootera, Queen, NH10, Masaan, among others and will be available globally to Netflix subscribers.
The series is set in Mumbai and is an epic masterpiece that delves deep into the intricate web of organised crime, corruption and explores the political scene of India’s economic renaissance. It depicts the lives of the rich, powerful and the privileged, and how money and corruption form an integral aspect of it all.
“Over the last few years, I’ve watched with great excitement and pleasure as Netflix has transformed narrative television with its ground-breaking, genre-bending shows…I’m confident that all the colour and vitality and music of the fictional world I’ve lived with for so long will come fully alive on the large-scale canvas provided by Netflix. I’m thrilled to be working with Netflix and Phantom Films,” says Chandra.
Madhu Mantena of Phantom also expressed his delight for the project stating that the team is extremely confident about the creation of groundbreaking television content that will break all barriers. “We are very happy to start this journey with Netflix by producing Vikram’s outstanding story, set in Mumbai.”
