Twitter CEO Warns Of Consequences To Elon Musk’s Poll About Introducing An Edit Button
Reactions to the poll have been a mix-bag, to say the least.
Elon Musk is already thinking of making some monumental changes to Twitter. The billionaire who just acquired a 9.2 per cent stake in the micro-blogging site, put a poll out yesterday asking if users would want to see an edit button?

To which, Parag Agrawal, who was recently made CEO of Twitter, quoted Musk’s tweet and said. “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully. Please vote carefully.”

While it is still unknown if Musk’s tweet was a part of an elaborate prank, the majority of users have so far voted in favour of an edit button.
Back on April 1, the micro-blogging site had tweeted a message saying it was working on a long-awaited “edit” feature. When asked if the tweet was meant to be a joke, the company replied by saying, “We cannot confirm or deny but we may edit our statement later.”
However, now it appears that the billionaire, and the single-most highest majority investor in Twitter, Musk seems to have taken the consideration seriously. As expected, the reactions to the poll have been a mix-bag. Here are some of our favourites –

Here's my argument against an edit button: What if a tweet goes viral, lots of retweets & millions of impressions, & then the author completely changes the meaning? Not just a grammatical fix, but a TOTAL ideological change? Or shameless self-promote?

First of all, they should change the algorithms. We want the old stream. they shouldn't decide which tweets we see. The edit button should be limited to only 1 minute. If the tweet we wrote is wrong, to quickly edit it.
