In order to preserve the legacy of Guru Dutt’s classic films, Vidhu Vinod Chopra recently released the screenplays of three films in book form – Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Chaudhvin Ka Chand and Kaagaz Ke Phool.
For the launch event, Chopra hosted other film-makers who have been influenced by Dutt’s work for a panel discussion. Farhan Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee attended the event, fondly discussing Dutt’s cinema and analysing his style and cinematic technique.
An ecstatic Chopra said, “I would like to pay my personal tribute to the legendary Guru Dutt for having created films that continue to inspire, amaze, delight and seduce us. Today, I feel greatly privileged to bring the original screenplays of these great classics to all cinema lovers.”
This isn’t the first time that the PK producer has published film scripts for public consumption. Chopra had released the screenplays of Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots after their releases to help students of cinema.
