When you talk about the legends in motor racing, Ayrton Senna’s name is one that tops the list. He was the youngest Formula 1 driver to win three world championships in 1988, 1989, and 1991. Twenty-seven years after his tragic passing, the Brazilian is still regarded as one of the most significant and influential racing drivers of all time. He had a longstanding association with TAG Heuer and was its ambassador. The partnership between the Swiss watchmaker and the Senna Foundation has led to the brand unveiling a range of Ayrton Senna Limited Edition timepieces.

For 2021, TAG Heuer has drawn inspiration from Senna’s iconic yellow racing helmet and launched the TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition 2021.

About The Watch:

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition 2021 comes in a 43mm stainless steel case finished with a modern sand-blasted black DLC coating and a black ceramic fixed tachymeter bezel. The anthracite sunray-brushed dial is home to many visual textures, including azurage subdials, baton hands and applied indices, an off-centre date display window at 4 o’clock, and a subtle Formula 1 branding at 6 o’clock.

From the outer minute’s scale to the famous double ‘S’ (the Brazilian driver’s iconic brand) present on the bezel at 12 o’clock and subdial at 6 o’clock, the watch features yellow accents inspired by Senna famous helmet. The pop of colour also highlights some of Formula 1’s more divisive design cues. Flip the watch to reveal a stainless steel, screw-down case back that has an engraving of Senna’s emblematic helmet, the words “SENNA SPECIAL EDITION” and the TAG Heuer shield.

The look of the timepiece is enhanced by the embossed calfskin black strap similar to the S/EL that Senna used to wear on his TAG Heuer. First made by the Swiss watch brand, this iconic bracelet is easily recognisable by the distinctive S-shaped pattern.

The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Senna Special Edition 2021 costs Rs 1.83 lakh (approximately), and is available here.
