Lange & Söhne has come up with some stunning portraits of its current timepieces and the models include Saxonia Moon Phase, Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “Lumen”, Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon and Richard Lange Jumping Seconds, which are suspended from strings at four historic locations.
The result is an elegant collection of images that give us a taste of Dresden’s magnificent allure and which create a link between the past and the present. Take a look.
Saxonia Moon Phase
The Saxonia Moon Phase combines a highly precise moon-phase display with the distinctive Lange outsize date. The movement parts in the photograph come from the moon-phase display’s seven-level gear. The mechanism is so precise that it only needs to be corrected by one day every 122.6 years.
The Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase “Lumen”, of which only 200 pieces were made, features a glowing outsize date and moon-phase display. Thanks to the semi-transparent sapphire-crystal dial, the ingenious disc mechanism of the Lange outsize date is visible. In addition, the patented coating allows invisible UV rays to pass through it, so that the luminous pigments on the indications can absorb light energy and release it later to glow in the dark.
Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon
The Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon, in its platinum case, is limited to 100 pieces and is a unique combination of a perpetual calendar and a flyback chronograph and tourbillon. The delicate mechanism, which neutralises the influence of gravitational force on the balance, is visible through the sapphire-crystal caseback. The photograph shows parts of the chronograph module as well as the complex watch. Its special features include a precisely jumping minute counter.
This timepiece provides the ultimate precision and superb readability, and also features an eye-catching regulator design. It combines a classic jumping-second complication with a constant-force escapement and a Zero-Reset mechanism to create a fascinating reinterpretation of the scientific observation watch. Parts of the exquisite Zero-Reset mechanism can be seen on the diagonals. It allows the watch to be synchronised, quickly and easily.
