Tommy Hilfiger on why his brand’s latest global ambassadors, The Chainsmokers, fit the bill perfectly.
Why is music so important to you?
Growing up, I was inspired by rock n’ roll artists who were wearing cutting-edge fashion. We couldn’t find this style in Elmira, where I grew up, so I started to look to New York City. That’s really where my dreams of being a designer began and music has been a source of inspiration ever since.
Why do you collaborate with musicians?
Looking back to all the personalities I’ve had the opportunity to work with, music artists such as David Bowie, Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones, Britney Spears and Beyoncé are most striking. They are risk-takers who share my belief in the power to transform and influence. Each one brings a unique vision and personality to our clothes. This is what I love the most about the union of fashion and music.
Why collaborate with the Chainsmokers?
Alex and Drew are the perfect definition of our “Tommy Guy.” Their talent, optimism and effortless cool really make them stand out. They have a passion and drive to succeed that I love.
What do you like about their music?
The Chainsmokers blend many different influences and techniques to create their unique signature sound that resonates with audiences around the world. This has placed them at the center of modern pop culture.
The Chainsmokers use innovative technology to connect with their fans. How powerful is this to you?
It’s about authenticity and connection. The Chainsmokers use social media to connect with their audience, giving them a real behind-the-scenes look into their lives. Like TOMMYNOW, they produce innovative and unforgettable shows for their fans, who are looking for new and exciting experiences.
