Ah, Apple. The behemoth of a company based in California that loves putting out the same-looking product with minor revamps every year. They’re the best in the business when it comes to that and they don’t plan on stopping. This time, they’re back with a “new” iPod Touch that nobody really needs.

The iPod Touch, when originally released in 2001, was still a device that was unique for its time and provided users with the ‘Apple’ experience without them having to invest in an iPhone. It was still the time where we used to listen to songs on mp3 players and the iPod Touch was revolutionary at the time.

Fast forward to 2019. We’re now living in an age where your phone is almost as powerful as your computer and the cameras can take DSLR quality pictures. When it comes to music today, we have streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music where thousands of songs are available without storage being a problem. Tech companies today are trying to make their phones bezel-less and fluid, but Apple decided to release a brand-new iPod Touch with the design of the old iPhone 4 which includes a small four-inch screen and a home button. The rear camera is an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a pitiful 1.2-megapixel front camera.

So, what’s new in the latest generation of the iPod Touch? It comes with 256GB of storage, A10 Fusion chip, a new gaming service with support for AR games and that’s about it. The device is priced at Rs 18,900 for the 32GB model, Rs 28,900 for the 128GB model and Rs 38,900 for the 256GB model.

So, should you buy the new iPod Touch? Well, if you’re sane and value your money, then you won’t. But if you are one of those Apple fanboys/fangirls who will buy anything this company puts out, then it’s time for you to run to the Apple store and pick up one of these.
