Elden Ring Is FromSoftware’s Fastest-Selling Game With 12 Million Copies Sold In 3 Weeks
‘Elden Ring’, the open-world action-adventure RPG has been lauded by fans and critics alike
The name Elden Ring has been echoing throughout the gaming communities for weeks now. The highly-anticipated FromSoftware release has seemingly done the impossible of scoring near perfect reviews from both, fans and critics. It comes as no surprise then that the game was sold a whopping 12 million copies ever since its release on Feb 25th!
In an official statement from developer FromSoftware and publisher Bandai Namco, it was confirmed that the open-world action RPG has sold over one million copies in Japan alone.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO/director Hidetaka Miyazaki said, “It’s astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring. I’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team. Elden Ring is based on a mythological story written by George R. R. Martin. We hope players enjoy a high level of freedom when adventuring through its vast world, exploring its many secrets and facing up to its many threats. Thank you for your continued support.”
Elden Ring is also FromSoftware’s fastest-selling title, with Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, its last release, selling two million copies in 10 days. And the highly-raved-about Bloodborne, which was exclusively released on PS4 back in 2015, sold over 1 million copies within two weeks.
A comparison should also be made to the developer’s bestselling title, Dark Souls 3, which took four years to reach the 10 million mark.

It is one of the biggest RPG launches of all time
For perspective it took Dark Souls 3, the previous best selling FromSoftware game, over 4 years to sell 10 Million Copies

elden ring selling 12 million is like shadow of the colossus selling call of duty numbers we might finally see the return of games that break the mold of what a “good” game has to be

Elden Ring selling 12 million units (1m in Japan, 11m elsewhere) in 3 weeks is pretty insane.

The only other current Japanese RPG series that sells that much, that fast is Pokemon. Good company to be in.
12 million sales for Elden Ring is insane, but not as insane as the game selling 1 million in Japan meaning that PC is the platform that's likely sold the most copies in Japan of all countries.

Bandai Namco projected Elden Ring to sell 4 million units worldwide by the end of March in its Investors Q&A last November!

That's nearly 1/2 of all Dark Souls franchise sales (27 million as of 2020) pic.twitter.com/4wB4o1Eg9L
The fact a game as freaking hardcore as Elden Ring became among the fastest selling games ever is mind blowing

Like, 12+ Million Units this fast is absurd. What a moment for FromSoftware and so well deserved for this studio
