MG has finally unveiled the new-gen Hector and the Hector Plus ahead of its launch on January 11 at the Auto Expo 2023. Pre-bookings of the SUV had already commenced last year.

While both the Hector and Hector Plus share the same design, mechanicals and features, the latter features an additional row at the back.

Starting with the updates, the MG Hector now gets a bigger, more prominent grille at the front with diamond patterns. In a way, it reminds us of the one found on the latest Lexus models.

The re-designed grille is still flanked by LED DRLs; however, the front bumper does get some minor design tweaks. Also new here, is the Dune Brown paint scheme, which will be offered alongside the seven existing paint options.

The new 14-inch touchscreen takes the centrestage on the inside. Other highlights include a 360-degree camera with a 3D mode and the inclusion of ADAS, allowing for features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking and more.

Also new are bend cruise assistance, which sheds the SUV's speed while on a curve with cruise control activated, and Traffic Jam Assist, which makes stop-and-go driving easier while in traffic.

The 2023 Hector now comes with Bluetooth unlocking, which can also be shared with other users for a limited time.

Powering it is the same 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel unit, which make 143PS and 170PS of power respectively. The 2023 MG Hector will compete against the Mahindra XUV700 and the Jeep Compass.
