If the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is a little too much for you, how about the recently unveiled and more understated Volvo flagship instead?

At the ongoing Shanghai Auto Show, the Swedish carmaker unveiled its latest and greatest creation, the Volvo EX90 Excellence.

Promised to offer a  “premium experience to the next level” the majority of updates on the EX90 are focused on the inside, however, it does get an all-new two-tone paint job and a rather quirky 22-inch alloy wheels design.

Apart from this, the SUV continues to sport a crossover design with a sloping design and a closed-off front grille, a trademark of EV SUVs which has been common lately.

The biggest changes though come on the inside, especially about the rear passenger area. The SUV now gets two individual rear seats, which replace the traditional second and third-row seats.

Between the two executive seats are a bunch of wooden panels, one of which opens a refrigerator and the other which hosts the integrated touch panel, giving you access to heat and massage functionality.

There’s also a large Orrefors crystal in the interiors that acts as a  fragrance dispenser, releasing different scents corresponding to the car’s ambient lighting. This is an addition to the 14.5-inch infotainment system, very similar to the one found in Teslas.

All of this, of course, comes wrapped in a choice of wool or Nordico upholstery, with the latter being said to be made from PET bottles and bio-attributed material, found in the forests of Sweden and Finland.

While exact specs are still unknown, the EX90 is said to be powered by a dual-motor, all-wheel drive system which offers around 650km of range as per CLTC cycle.
