Apple Doubles Down On Accessibility With iOS 16.4

Apple has dropped the latest iOS update with major bug fixes, minor updates and the addition of 21 new emojis.

The 1.8GB file (in case you’re on iOS 16.3.1) can be downloaded by going into Settings > General > Software Update.

As mentioned earlier iOS 16.4 users now get 21 new emojis which include new animals, hand gestures and objects.

The update now also brings Safari to push notifications, seen on macOS to the iPhone. This will allow web apps added to your home screen to send you push notifications, just like a conventional iOS app.

Other additions include voice isolation functionality to cellular, which greatly reduces background noise for better voice clarity.

Additionally, the iPhone 14 models, including the Pro series now get optimised crash detection. Other changes include improvement to the Photos app’s Duplicates Album feature, allowing for better recognition.

The Weather app now gets voice-over support for maps, for users with visual impairments.

Apple has also added the functionality of automatically dimming videos when flashes of light or strobe effects are detected, providing a safer viewing experience for users with photosensitivity.
