#2 Messi Ending Goal Drought In  World Cup KnockoutsLionel Messi had never scored a goal in the knockout stages of the World Cup until this year's event in Qatar. In Qatar, Messi scored at least a goal in each of the knock-out matches, finishing the tournament with seven goals in all.

Messi Scores In World Cup FinalLionel Messi failed to score the last time Argentina reached the World Cup final, in 2014. Germany won the game through a late goal from Mario Goetze. Messi scored twice yesterday, and also set the tone with a successful kick in the shootout.
