Setting the tone with early wickets is not an easy job to achieve in T20, a format where the batters have a disproportionate advantage due to field restrictions, shorter boundaries and heavier bats. Some bowlers, however, love this challenge and often provide early breakthroughs with the new ball.

#4 Angelo Mathews, Sri LankaWickets: 11Angelo Matthews' nagging consistency made him one of the most fearsome pacers in the opening phase of the game. A mainstay in all formats at his peak, Matthews' career is blighted by a series of injuries. His last T20I appearance for Sri Lanka was in 2021.

#3 David Willey, EnglandWickets: 14In whatever limited opportunities he's got, David Willey has never disappointed the selectors. Willey is a great operator of the new ball, but has to warm the bench in favour of Chris Woakes and Mark Wood in the current T20 World Cup 2022.

#2  Bilal Khan, OmanWickets: 16Bilal Khan played domestic cricket for Pakistan before shifting to Oman for a job in 2011. Bilal completed the ICC's four-year qualification criteria and has been a constant presence in the Oman team. Other than being a left-arm swing bowler, he is quite handy with the bat.
