With that date now just a couple of days away, we're absolutely hyped for what the next generation of the epic FPS franchise has to offer — here's some of the biggest features we can't wait to get our hands on ahead of the release.

#1 — All-new Movement SystemCoD's fast-paced gunplay is one of the biggest draws of the series. Modern Warfare II takes this to the next level, with underwater combat, an upgraded parkour system, snappy 'dolphin dives', and even all-new streamlined animations for secondary weapons, we're set to play one of the most fluid, responsive FPS experiences of the year.

#2 — Gunsmith 2.0Gun customisation is at the heart of every CoD multiplayer experience, and the new Gunsmith system further evolves how we can make each weapon our own. The new system introduces 'platforms' for even more gun combinations, with a grind-free progression system to ensure new meta loadouts are even easier to build with future updates.

#3 — Third Person PerspectiveA first for the series, Modern Warfare II allows players to play matches in a zoomed-out third person view, similar to games such as Fortnite or PUBG. While restricted to certain multiplayer modes, this allows for new tactics and greater awareness while in the game — perhaps at the cost of accuracy, depending on your skill level. It also allows us to enjoy the many character skins we'll be unlocking, too!

#4 — New GamemodesTaking some inspiration from squad shooters such as Rainbow Six: Siege, CoD has now added a Prisoner Rescue mode, adding some much needed depth to the roster of gamemodes available. We'll also be trying out Knockout — a fast-paced team game that hands one player a bag of cash, and forces the rest to hunt them down, likely inspired by Halo's Oddball gamemodes.

#5 — New MapsWhile the upcoming Warzone 2.0 map offers a much-needed update to the core battle royale experience, Infinity Ward have also created plenty of exciting battlezones for regular multiplayer. Matches will take us from Spanish Museums to the streets of Mexico, and even to a racetrack inspired by the Singapore Grand Prix venue.
