Ducati's Brand New Rs 17.91 Lakh DesertX Is The Company’s ADV Monster

After showcasing it at World Ducati week, the company has finally launched the DesertX ADV in India for Rs 17.91 lakh (ex-showroom).

Sporting a Dakar rally bike-inspired design, the DesertX gets a pair of round dual-LED projector headlights at the front, complementing its compact bodywork.

Since off-roading is the focus here, the DesertX gets a 21-inch wheel at the front and an 18-inch unit at the rear, wrapped with Pirelli Scorpion STR tyres.

With a suspension travel of 230mm at the front and 220mm at the rear respectively, the motorcycle stands 250mm clear of the ground. Braking hardware consists of twin 320mm front discs and a 265mm rear disc, both with Brembo callipers.

Nestled between its steel trellis frame is the same 937cc L-Twin motor seen on the Multistrada V2, Panigale V2, the Monster and the Hypermotard 950.

However, the engine carries a different tune, putting out the same 110PS of power and 92Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox.

The DesertX tips the scale 223kg, and has a seat height of 875mm, which can be bought down to 845mm.

In terms of electronics, you get six riding modes here including an Enduro and a Rally mode, for dedicated off-road use. Then there’s the 5-inch TFT dash, heated grips, fog lamps and an 8-litre auxiliary fuel tank.

Other aids here include multi-level ABS, traction control, wheelie control, engine braking control and a bi-directional quickshifter. On-road riding modes here include - Sport, Touring, Urban and Wet

The Ducati DesertX primarily competes against the Honda Africa Twin and the BMW F 850 GS.
