Veteran actor Satish Kaushik was pronounced dead on March 9, after succumbing to a heart attack in Gurugram. The news of the 66-year-old's death came via a Twitter post by his actor pal Anupam Kher. Kaushik's last social media post was one from the Holi celebrations at Javed Akhtar’s residence in Mumbai. Here are a few unknown facts about him:

Cashier At A Textile MillMuch like most success stories, Kaushik too had a humble start. In 1979, when the actor first set foot in Mumbai, he took on a job as a cashier in a textile mill to make ends meet. The job paid him all of rs. 400 as a monthly wage. It reportedly took him a year to attain stability.

Breakthrough At Prithvi TheatreIn an earlier interview, the late actor claimed that it all began at Prithvi Theatre, a venue he'd frequent post-work hours. Soon, he signed up to be a part of plays and the side hustle eventually led him to where he always belonged— the movies.

Started Off As A DirectorKaushik started out as a director for the 1993 film, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. The movie tanked at the box office and was considered a big flop. His second film Prem in 1995 also ended up as a box office disaster.
