Star Wars Jedi: SurvivorExpectations were low for EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order back when it was released in 2019. In a pleasantly surprising turn of events though, Fallen Order not only managed to impress both critics and fans but also arguably became the best Star Wars content to come out that year. No surprises then, the follow-up Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has a lot riding on it. As per the trailers, the sequel is set five years after the events of the first game and follows our protagonist Cal Kestis, who’s on the run from the Empire.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom There’s perhaps no bigger title than this Nintendo tentpole release which has fans on the edge of their seats. A follow-up to what some consider to be the best modern-day open-world video game of all time, Tears of the Kingdom was originally supposed to come out last year but was delayed to a summer 2023 release. While Nintendo has not shown much of the sequel, we do know that it’ll feature new regions like the lands of Hyrule and its compelling mysteries for Link to explore.

Street Fighter 6 Capcom will be looking to steady the ship with the upcoming Street Fighter 6 after the disappointing launch of its predecessor. So far, they seem to have been successful. Early reviews of the video game have been positive, while new functionality and control features along with the expanded roster of both new and familiar faces, including series staples such as Ken, Ryu, and Chun-Li. But would that be enough to revive the iconic fighting franchise? We’ll find out soon enough.

Diablo IVIf there’s a publisher who desperately needs a win right now it is Blizzard. After a year of dealing with serious workplace misconduct accusations, the company will be making its high-profile return with Diablo IV. Despite fumbling up the release of the last Diablo title, Blizzard has seemingly gone all-in by making the upcoming sequel an open-world action-RPG adventure. And the bet seems to have paid off if early beta reviews are to be believed,.

Final Fantasy XVI Diving deep into an uncharacteristic dark fantasy storyline, the sixteenth mainline Final Fantasy game takes us into a bloody quest of revenge and retribution, and aims to greatly revamp the series’ beloved combat and exploration mechanics. Evolving the iconic FFV combat system into a fluid, realtime action platform, game producer Naoki Yoshida has brought together some of Japan’s greatest videogame talents for this project — which might just be the greatest Final Fantasy title of the modern era.

Starfield The Xbox’s biggest release of the year, Starfield is the next triple-A title from Bethesda Game Studios and director Todd Howard, after the success of the Fallout franchise. While not much is known yet, Howard has described the game as “Skyrim in space”, which could hint at a detailed character customisation menu and an expansive map, with over 1,000 planets to explore.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 After the success of its last two Spider-Man releases, Sony is set to release the highly-anticipated sequel this year. What we do know so far is both Peter Parker and Miles Morales will be going up against a particularly mischievous symbiote named Venom. With Insomniac in the driving seat again, the expectations are of course high this holiday season.
