8 Ways UAE’s New Visa Policies Will Affect Indian Citizens

Tourist Visas

As per the new changes, tourist visas will now allow visitors to stay in UAE for 60 days, up from the previous limit of 30 days. There’s also a new five-year multi-entry tourist visa, which will allow visitors to stay in UAE for up to 90 days in a row.

The job exploration visa will now allow professionals in UAE to seek employment without a sponsor or a host. Only those who fall under the first, second and third skill level classification and new graduates from the top 500 universities of the world will be eligible.

Green Visas

Announced back in September 2021, the Green Visa will allow foreigners to sponsor themselves for a duration of five years, without having to rely on a UAE national or an  employer for sponsorship.

The move is set to benefit freelancers, self-employed folks, and skilled workers along with investors and partners. Green visa holders will also be able to sponsor their family members, including a spouse, children and first-degree relatives.

Parents will be able to sponsor make children till the age of 25, an increase from the previous age limit of 18. There is no age limit to sponsor unmarried daughters. A grace period of up to six months will be extended in case the residence permit is cancelled or expired.

Golden Visa

A golden visa which allows for long-term residence to live, work and study in UAE for up to 10 years, has been made more flexible. The minimum salary cap has been dropped from Dh 50,000 to Dh 30,000, helping more skilled professionals to stay in the country for longer.

The UAE government has also rolled back its policy of terminating visas of citizens who stayed outside the country for 6 months. Under the new system, golden visa holders can maintain their residency irrespective of how long they are outside the country.

The holders of the Golden Visa can now sponsor children without any age limits. There is also no cap on the number of domestic staff they can sponsor. Additionally, investors with property worth at least Dh 2 million (even with a loan from a specific local bank) will be eligible.
