When India and Pakistan met for the second time in the Asia Cup, all eyes were on the battle between Indian openers and the Pakistani pacers. In the first match, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah blew apart the top order.

Gill too started cautiously before striking three stellar boundaries in the third over, bowled by Afridi. In search of late movement on offer, Afridi pitched right up to Gill, who authoritatively sent the ball away to boundaries.

But Gill was not done yet. When Afridi came on to bowl his next over, Gill charged down the track and swatted a 140kph delivery towards mid-on. The dashing right-hander then finished the over with two more fours.

Afridi, however, had the final laugh. Gill failed to read a beautifully disguised slower delivery, and handed out an easy catch to man at cover. But he has already made 58 by now.

India was well placed on 147/2 in 24.1 overs before the rains. KL Rahul and Virat Kohli will resume their innings today.
