After showcasing the production-ready EV9 SUV, Kia has now taken the wrap-off of its third all-electric car, the EV5 SUV concept.

Designed to look like the bite-sized version of the EV9, the EV5 concept will likely be based on a variation of Kia’s E-GMP platform which underpins the company’s electric portfolio.

The EV5 focuses more on proportionality and practicality, with a boxy rugged look. The front features the signature closed-off grille, flanked by a very thin strip of LED DRLs.

Meanwhile, the side profile is dominated by the 21-inch wheel, housed in the massive wheel arches. Look closer and you’ll notice sharp lines and creases all over the bodywork, adding more to the ruggedness of the SUV.

Kia claims the interiors of the EV5 are designed to be a ‘space of coexistence.’ To  hammer home that feeling, the SUV’s seats can swivel to take in the view while travelling.

The rest of the cabin features a minimalistic look with an airy cabin and a panoramic sunroof. Considering this is a concept, expect things to change around here a bit.

As mentioned earlier, Kia is yet to reveal the technical specs of the EV SUV. However, we expect it to be offered with a choice of the battery pack and powertrain options. More details are expected to uncover later this year with the EV5’s debut in the Chinese market.
