After five years, Mercedes-Benz has finally given its GLE range an update. The latest-gen model will continue to be sold in SUV and Coupe body styles and will arrive on our shores in the coming months.

Starting with the design, the changes are almost unnoticeable unless you carry a deerstalker hat and a magnifying glass. The front features a single-slat grille, with slightly tweaked LED headlights

The rear, on the other hand, has been mildly reworked and features a revised set of tail lights and a bumper.

Things are different on the inside, with the chic factor being dialled to 11. The new-gen GLE gets Mercedes’ intelligent MBUX infotainment system, a new steering wheel and chrome accents sprinkled across the cabin.

The facelifted GLE will be offered a variety of powertrain options, including a mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid system working alongside either the 3-litre petrol (386PS) or the 2-litre diesel (273PS).

The mild-hybrid system offers a boost of 20PS on both, while the plug-in hybrid for both the 400 e and 350 de trim offers an electric-only range of 109km (WLTP claimed).
