Late last week, Drake became the owner of perhaps the most iconic piece of jewellery in the hip-hop world, acquiring Tupac’s self-designed ring for over $1 million. The late rapper wore the same ring during his final appearance at the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards, a week before his demine in Las Vegas. While the price (arguably) befits the prize, it isn’t even the craziest piece of jewellery owned by rap artists today. Here’s the list.

Lil Jon’s Crunk Chain - $500k The latest generation may not remember the early 2000s star Lil Jon and his contribution to bringing Crunk music into mainstream culture. However, the artist isn’t someone who’d willingly fade away into obscurity. Back in 2007, Lil John made it to the Guinness World Record for commissioning the custom word pendant that reads “Crunk Ain’t Dead,” which housed the biggest diamond pendant to ever exist at that time.

Gucci Mane’s Twin Panther Chain - $500k Said to be the pioneer of trap music, Gucci Mane stunned the industry back in 2017, after unveiling a rather interesting jewellery piece of his own design. It featured two panthers biting the opposite ends of clustered tennis chains. As per reports, over  4,500 diamonds were used to make it, weighing in at an astonishing 165 carat.

Pharrell’s N.E.R.D Chain - $1 Million Before he was the creative director for Louis Vuitton, Pharrell was busy designing his own set of jewellery, the highlight of which was his custom N.E.R.D chain. Blinged out in a way that each individual link hosts a different colour diamond, the mariner chain sported a centrepiece pendant with diamond-studded caricatures of him and his team.

Rick Ross Face Pendant - $1.5 Million In a piece of news that should surprise no one, back in 2008, MC Rick Ross donned a customised chain which featured a solid gold and diamond custom pendant of his own face. This extravagant piece of jewellery is said to have taken months to prepare and ran him a bill of nearly $1.5 million.

Lil Uzi’s Forehead Diamond - $24 Million Despite some interesting entries on the list, none come close to Lil Uzi’s “forehead piece” he surgically implanted. The rapper chose a 10k diamond for the headline-making piece of jewellery and used a process called transdermal implant.
