For instance, the new Velar now gets a revised set of LED headlamps along with a revised front and rear bumper.

However, the cabin is where you’ll notice most of the difference, with a new 11.4-inch ‘floating’ touchscreen being carried over here from its Range Rover siblings.

The new infotainment system gets JLR’s Pivi Pro OS, which as per the company allows for 80 per cent of the tasks to be completed within two taps. Other passenger-friendly updates here include the addition of climate change toggles, audio controls and Amazon Alexa.

The majority of its updates though come under the hood, with the 2023 model getting a bigger 19.2kWh battery pack for its plug-in hybrid variant, allowing for an additional 11km of range at 64km.

However, it continues to make 304PS of power with the plug-in hybrid powertrain working in tandem with the 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

This helps it in sprinting from 0-100kmph in just 5.4 seconds, with a top speed of 209kmph. The numbers are quite impressive considering the sheer size of the luxury SUV.

JLR will also sell you a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol-only engine (250PS), along with three other options - a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel (206PS) and a 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol and one diesel variant, which makes with 405PS and 304PS. And yes, the 5-litre V8 trim, the SV Autobiography is now discontinued.

The 2023 Range Rover Velar will arrive on our shores with a rather hefty price increase considering the new import duty. Once launched, it’ll compete against the Porsche Macan, BMW X6 and the newly introduced Mercedes-Benz GLE.
