Volkswagen is on a roll lately. The German carmaker scored an impressive 5-star NCAP safety rating yesterday, for two of its sedans - the Skoda Slavia and the Volkswagen Virtus. In a similar theme, we’ve taken a look at five of the safest cars on our road.

Skoda KushaqLeading the chart here is the VW group again, with its Skoda Kushaq SUV scoring an impressive 5-star rating in both adult and child occupant crash tests, with a total of 71.64 points. The Kushaq comes with a host of safety features like six airbags, traction control hill-hold assist and more.

Volkswagen TaigunSimilarly, the Taigun got the same safety rating in both categories. The German SUV comes packed to the brim with safety features such as six airbags, multi-collision brakes, electronic stability control and more.

Tata PunchThe Tata Punch has seen overwhelming success ever since its launch a couple of years ago. The family-friendly compact SUV scores an impressive 5-star adult occupant safety rating and 4-star in child occupant safety. It comes with an array of safety features such as dual airbags, ABS, EBD, Traction Pro Mode and more.

Mahindra Scorpio NApart from being a cult icon, the Mahindra Scorpio N is quite impressive when it comes to safety too, scoring 5-star in the adult occupant test and 3-star in the child occupant category. The 7-seater gets a host of features such as driver fatigue detection,  rear ISOFIX anchors, parking sensors and more.
