BMW i7 M70 xDriveBMW took the wraps off its most powerful EV to date, with the  i7 M70 xDrive at the Shanghai motor show. Design-wise, this M-performance model doesn’t look all that different from the standard model, except for the glossy M-badging. Powering it though is a newly developed dual-motor powertrain which makes a combined output of 669PS and 1,015Nm of torque, helping it sprint from 0-100kmph in 3.7 seconds.

Mercedes-Maybach EV SUV Mercedes-Benz showcased its first-ever Maybach EV SUV at the event, with the Maybach EQS 680. As one would expect, the Chauffer-driven offering comes dripped with opulence, with a classy two-tone paint finish, the MBUX hyper screen, man-made Nappa leather upholstery and more. Powering it is a  dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system which makes 658PS of power and 950Nm of torque, with 0-100kmph coming up in 4.4 seconds and a range of nearly 600km.

Lexus LM MPVToyota also took the opportunity to unveil its latest Lexus model, the second-gen LM MPV, with the LM standing for ‘Luxury Mover’. Based on the Vellfire, the LM is solely focused on passenger comfort with airline-style recliner seats, a massive 48-inch widescreen television, a premium 23-speaker surround-sound audio system and more. Power here will come from a choice of two petrol-hybrid options, the details and specs of which are still awaited.

Porsche Cayenne faceliftAfter teasing it for a while now, Porsche has finally unveiled the next-gen Cayenne SUV, which the company has termed "one of the most extensive product upgrades in the history of Porsche". Apart from radical design and equipment changes, the biggest update here comes in the form of a new twin-turbocharged V8 motor which makes 481PS of power and 600Nm in the ‘S’ trim.

MINI Cooper SE Convertible EVShanghai will also witness the debut of the first MINI Cooper SE Convertible this week. The luxury compact EV will arrive in international showrooms this month but will be limited to only 999 units. While the company is yet to reveal the detailed spec sheet, it did confirm that the EV will pack a range of around 200km on a single charge. What remains to be seen is if any of the 999 units will make their way onto our shores.
