Simple One Electric Scooter Gets A Range Of More Than 200km

Homegrown electric startup, Simple Energy launched its first electric offering, the Simple One yesterday, starting at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).

The main highlight here is its two lithium-ion battery packs - one fixed and one swappable, with a combined capacity of 5kWh, offering a claimed range of 212km (IDC cycle).

In terms of power, the electric scooter makes 8.5kW and 72Nm of torque, helping it sprint from 0-40kmph in 2.77 seconds with a top speed of 105kmph (claimed).

Meanwhile, charging time here consist of 0 to 80 per cent in 5 hr 54 min using the company’s portable charger. With a fast charger though, this is reduced to 1.5km/min up to 80 per cent.

Taking the competition to Ather and Ola, the Simple One gets a massive 7-inch TFT dash which can be paired to your phone via Bluetooth. The scooter itself gets four different riding modes - Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic.

Other highlights here include all-LED lighting, 30 litres of boot space and a fairly sporty design with aggressive lines all over its bodywork.

The startup is planning to launch the scooter in a phased manner, with deliveries in Bengaluru starting first from June 6. The Simple One with its pricing competes against some of the premium offerings out there like the Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X, TVS iQube S, Bajaj Chetak and Vida V1 Pro.
