Who Was Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley And Priscilla Presley’s Only Daughter?

Today, Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley’s only daughter, Lisa Marie Presley died of a cardiac arrest at the age of 54.

The singer and songwriter attended this year’s Golden Globe awards with her mother Priscilla Presley in support of Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis.

Lisa was born on 1 February 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee, only nine months to the day after Elvis and Priscilla’s wedding. The couple split in 1972 when she was only four years old.

After the divorce, Lisa moved with her mother to Los Angeles, California. However, frequent stays with her father continued till his death in 1977.

Soon after Elvis’ death, Lisa inherited $100 million from his estate, which she sold 80 per cent off in 2004.

Shortly after her father’s demise, Lisa started experimenting with drugs, resulting in her mother sending her to multiple different private schools, including a boarding school.

Following in her father’s footsteps, she launched her debut studio album in 2003 with the title, “To Whom It May Concern”. It was certified gold that summer and reached #5 on the Billboard 200.

When asked how she felt being compared to her dad, Lisa told Larry King, “If I had been thinking about that, worrying about that, which I kind of had for a long time I would have never done what was sort of innately in my heart, in my soul,” adding “So I had to stop being worried about that, it was too intimidating otherwise.”

Her next album wouldn’t come before 2005’s “Now What”, which was followed by 2012’s “Storm & Grace”. Music career aside, Lisa was married four times, including to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage.

Her first marriage ended in 1996 with musician Danny Keough. They had a daughter, Riley Keough, and a son Benjamin Storm Keough. Soon, three weeks later, she married Jackson in a highly publicised affair. The couple divorced in 1996.

In October 1997, Lisa joined the Church of Scientology and remained a part of it till 2014. Later, she went on to marry Nicholas Cage, but the pair only remained together for three months from August to November 2002.

Her last marriage was with Michael Lockwood, her guitarist and music producer. The pair had twins - Finley Aaron Love Lockwood and Harper Vivienne Ann Lockwood in 2007. However, nine years later the couple divorced in 2016.

In 2020, tragedy struck as Lisa Marie Presley’s son Benjamin Keough died because of suicide at the age of 27.

Last September, Lisa published an essay for National Grief Awareness Day, writing “Grief is something you will have to carry with you for the rest of your life, despite what certain people or our culture wants us to believe. You do not ‘get over it,’ you do not ‘move on,’ period.”
