In stark contrast to the last year's T20 World Cup in Qatar, the 2022 edition of the tournament seems to be assisting the batters who enjoy pace bowling. Once set, it has been easy for the batter to play shots.

We take a look at five batters who could be the leading run-scorers of the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Kusal Mendis - Sri LankaKusal Mendis has been in great form, having scored 171 runs in four games already with the help of two half-centuries. Since Mendis has already played three more matches than batters whose teams started the journey from Super 12, there's a good chance for him to lead the run-scoring charts.

David Warner - AustraliaDavid Warner finished as the second-most leading run-getter of the T20 World Cup last year, when the conditions were not at all favourable for him. This time in his own country, Warner will aim to replicate his last year's heroics for the defending champions.

Virat Kohli - IndiaVirat Kohli started off the tournament with a stirring half-century that sunk Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kohli scored 82 off 53 deliveries, and if he carries on his form through the event, he may well end up as the batter with the most runs in T20 WC 2022.

Babar Azam - PakistanBabar Azam was the leading run-getter in T20 World Cup in the UAE last year. Although he got out cheaply against India, Azam should never be ruled out, for his strike rate might be an issue but not his batting average.
