Check out Merc’s new concept SUV

There appears to be a new addition to the growing list of crossover SUVs and it’s from Mercedes-Benz. It’s called the GLC Coupe and although in a conceptual stage at the moment, it will soon replace the outgoing GLK-class.

You wouldn’t be wrong in suggesting that it looks very similar to BMW’s X6 – another crossover SUV, which purports to have the utility of a big SUV and the coupe like driving dynamics. Given a growing preference towards taller ride height and extra space, most manufacturers are looking to fill in the ever-widening crossover space with fast, swanky SUVs.

The GLC in fact is a bit smaller than the X6 and will compete with its younger sibling – the X4, even though it is bigger and roomier than the X4. The Coupe concept is powered by a 3.0 litre twin-turbo V6 petrol motor that produces 362 bhp and 52.95 kgm of torque. Of course this will be among the more powerful engine options, with a full-fledged AMG model the only thing that would max out the power graph. What will be standard is a 9-speed automatic gearbox and Merc’s 4matic four-wheel drive system
