Good news! Volvo, the Swedish carmaker usually known for their big luxury SUVs, estates and premium hatchbacks has finally decided to take the fight to the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and the BMW 7-Series with the new S90. Much like the 2015 XC90, the new S90 appears to be embodying Volvo’s latest design philosophy – something with which Volvo aims to steadily reinvent itself.

The new S90 is a full-size sedan and will be the firm’s luxury benchmark featuring a range of Volvo’s top of the line engines including the turbocharged T5, the supercharged T6,  and the plug-in hybrid T8. Internationally the car will also feature Volvo’s steadily evolving semi-autonomous driving feature Pilot Assist which allows the car to stick to its lane thanks to autonomous steering inputs. Since most radar based features are disabled in all India-bound Volvos, owing to legislature, we’re not sure if this feature will be making it to our roads when the S90 arrives in India in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to Volvo Auto India MD, Tom von Bonsdorff. Autonomous driving nonetheless remains a top priority for Volvo – makers of some of the safest cars in the world.
