Mercedes-Benz has just launched the AMG A45 S 4MATIC+ at Rs 79.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India), making it the most expensive hatchback in India. The carmaker now has 13 AMG products on sale in the country and the A45 S adds to the A-class portfolio that comprises the A-class Limousine, AMG A35 sedan and the A45 S 4M+ hatch. Until now, the new A-Class was only available in a sedan body style in India, and with this launch, there’s now a hatchback in the mix.
Engine and Transmission
Powering the AMG A45 S is a new 2.0-litre turbocharged unit—the world’s most powerful turbocharged four-cylinder series-production engine—that makes 427PS and 500Nm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. There are seven driving modes on offer— Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Slippery, Individual, Race, and Drift.
Mercedes-Benz claims the A45 S can do the 0-100kph run in just 3.9sec and has a top speed of 270kph.
Exteriors
The model has received the full AMG treatment, making it look a lot sportier than the other models in the A-class line-up. The signature radiator grille, the sharp-looking bumper with large air dams, and multi-beam LED headlights enhance the powerful look. The flared wheel arches that hold AMG 19-inch alloy wheels only accentuate the stance. At the rear are sleek LED tail-lamps, a wide apron and twin tailpipes (90 mm diameter).
Interiors
The interiors of the A45 S match up to the exteriors. While the dashboard is not very different, the hatchback gets AMG-specific steering wheel and supportive sporty seats. Taking care of safety are features like Blind Spot Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist.
The Mercedes-AMG A45 S will be brought in as a fully imported model and in limited numbers.
