The new E-Class luxury sedan is, according to Mercedes-Benz, ‘the most dynamic and technology-laden E-Class ever, one that combines rear seat luxury, latest-generation telematics, avant-garde design and exciting driving dynamics.’ And now, the new E-Class has been launched in India, in three variants – the E200, E220d and the E350d, with the last one being a sporty India-specific AMG exterior line version. The three versions are priced at Rs 63.60 lakh, Rs 64.80 lakh and Rs 80.90 lakh, respectively. The E-Class is Mercedes-Benz’s most popular model in the Indian market, with more than 46,000 units of the car currently cruising the country’s roads, and the success story is expected to extend further with the new E-Class.
The long-wheelbase version of the E-Class, which has been launched in India, boasts a very spacious cabin with class-leading legroom and headroom at the back, which is ideal since most E-Class owners in India are chauffeur-driven. At the same time, the E350d, with its 3.0-litre 6-cylinder engine that delivers 286 horsepower and a massive 600Nm of torque, is also aimed at driving enthusiasts who love to take the wheel themselves. ‘We have completely reimagined the new E-Class by making it more dynamic, more fun to drive and more tech-enriched than ever before. We are confident that with our balanced variant strategy, the new E-Class will strongly appeal to not only the chauffeur-driven, but also to the driving enthusiast who wants a sporty and fun car to drive around, without compromising on any of the luxury features,’ said Martin Schwenk, MD & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
The new E-Class, which is a bit longer than 5m and has a wheelbase of more than 3m, is an imposing vehicle to look at. Notable bits on the new car include a 9-speed automatic transmission, LED high-performance headlamps, redesigned rear end with new taillight design and new bumpers, updated cabin with open-pore wood and leather trim, capacitive touch controls on the steering wheel, full smartphone integration and reclining seats at the back with memory function. There’s also a removable touchpad for rear seat occupants, which lets them control infotainment-related functions in the car, as well as a 590W Burmester surround sound system, panoramic sunroof, power-close function for the doors and a fully digital cockpit with twin 12.3-inch full-colour displays, with voice assistance. Safety features include ABS, traction control, seven airbags and a host of other electronic driver aids, which work in tandem to boost passenger under a wide range of road and traffic conditions.
Colour options for the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class include white, black, silver, grey and red, though the last two will be available for a limited time period only. For those who may be in the market for a new luxury car, you definitely need to visit your nearest Mercedes-Benz showroom now; we’re sure you won’t be disappointed with the new E.
