The one street style trend that is here to stay is the Babushka scarf.  While the Russian word “Babushka” literally means grandmother, in this context, we mean her headgear is making a comeback. This dramatic styling of wrapping a silk scarf, in the style of Russian grandmothers or the old Hollywood starlets, is quite popular in Eastern Europe.

Emerging as one of the unlikely trends of the season, the Babushka scarf helps both men and women elevate their outfits with a delicate scarf neatly tied around the neck or chin.

This trend was spotted when A$AP Rocky casually put on a silk scarf at an event and since then, we’ve seen other rappers sporting a similar look. The Babushka even made rounds on the runway over the past few seasons of Gucci.

The trend can be styled with utility wear or even with a perfect suede suit. Designer Marc Jacobs has been posting pictures of himself wearing the trendy babushka scarves on Instagram. The silk accessory can be paired with small sunglasses and you’re good to go.

Earlier this year, Kendall Jenner was spotted with a wrapped silk scarf under her chin as well as model Imaan Hamam channeled herself into an Old Hollywood starlet. Other than A$AP Rocky, Frank Ocean has joined the bandwagon, and so have the Jonas sisters Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sophie Turner and Danielle Jonas in the music video of “Sucker” .
