The 2019 Oscars red carpet had one rule and one rule only – to do away with the boring tuxes. For the longest time, the event dress code ‘black tie’ has men sincerely stuck up. The end result? All men walking the red carpet looking the same. 

Don’t get us wrong, we love a sleek tuxedo. However, a little shift to embrace new and colorful silhouettes never hurt nobody. At the Academy awards this year, men showed up making various serious fashion statement. For most parts, velvet jackets were seen in abundance. Chadwick Boseman showed up in sequin Givenchy couture, Nicholas Hoult looked his futuristic best in Dior and Chris Evans took a detour from the usual black suit, looking like an absolute dream. In a long time, we saw men have fun with accessories too. Jason Momoa wore a scrunchie to match his outfit and Spike lee showed off his gold hued Jordans.
