How do you define fashion? What does it mean to you?

For me, fashion still means an art form of shaping the fabric into the mood that I like to create as a designer.

What do you consider your personal style statement?

My personal style statement is not too serious. I adapt, change, experiment and keep myself comfortable.

What was your last purchase?

Another pair of sunglasses from Gentle Monster.

Do you prefer tailored or off the rack?

I prefer tailored when I invest in my clothes and for my regular streetwear, I shop online.

Who are your favourite designers?

If I like something that I can afford, I do buy it, and it doesn’t matter if it’s by a designer or from a thrift shop. My favourite designer is Yohji Yamamoto and Dries Van Noten at the moment.

What do you think of men’s jewellery?

I love my beads and my rings. I think men should wear whatever they want to or whatever they can carry. There are no rules.

What about watches? Are you a fan of them?

I own a few watches and I have my days or months of wearing and not wearing them. But when I’m wearing my suit, a watch is a must.

How would you describe the perfect suit?

The perfect suit has no dents. The perfect length of the jacket, which should fall longer than the sleeves, and pants on high waist with right bottom hem. I love pinstripes, so, for me, a perfect suit would be a double-breasted pinstriped one.

Do you have any fashion fetishes?

I like to collect footwear but it’s not a fetish.

What are the casual and formal items every man must own?

A good number of white shirts and T-shirts, a few different styles of denims, black suits and printed t-shirts.

How do you like to change things up for weddings and formal events?

I experiment with the lengths of my traditional outfits and play with different styles of pants.

What is one piece of style advice you would give all men?

Clothes are our second skin, so invest in good quality rather than quantity. Wear authentic fabrics that may cost you more but it’ll stay with you forever— so, buy less but buy smart. Also, invest in your suits. They stay with you for the long run.

How do you maintain your hair and beard?

Apart from good shampoos and conditioners, it takes time and patience.
