The legendary watch that was originally created in 1963 for drivers participating in the legendary Carrera Panamericana race in Mexico gets periodic embellishments to bring it up to date with contemporary times. In the four new versions launched this year, the dial-in sunray black or sunray blue – has evolved to become even more legible. The counters on the chronograph’s three subdials are larger and more pronounced. Instead of just a dot in the past, the entire index markers have now been subtly filled with luminescent SuperLuminova for optimal visibility. A dash of colour enhances the overall appearance of each of the timepieces – red accent graces the tips of the central seconds hand and sub-dial hands on the black dial, the start/stop pusher and the flange from 12 to 3 o’clock. On the models with a blue dial, the accent is orange.

The 41mm steel case appears thinner and sleeker on these watches due to the shorter lugs and a balance of brushed and polished finish. In contrast, the black or blue ceramic bezel appears larger since it no longer has a metal ring along the outer edge.

The most striking looking of these chronographs comes in a re-introduced blue colour with a perforated calfskin strap with stitching and lining in the same orange colour as the accents on the dial. The automatic Calibre 16 chronograph movement has a power reserve of 42 hours.
