Perfect Father's Day Gifts Your Dad Will Totally Love

Father’s day is just around the corner and it is time for you to pick a gift for your father to show how much you care. Here are a few Father’s Day gift options by the Subscription Box that your dad will totally love.

Teabox

What you get: Tea sourced from over 75 estates in India and Nepal

The Teabox website has a breakdown of tasting notes of all its teas, and the user’s choices are funnelled into the inbuilt prediction engine. It objectively breaks them down to interpret and match them with teas and their flavours. “There are no universals in taste. What the expert considers as a great tea could potentially be the worst tea you’ve drunk. What our concerted efforts have resulted in is a system where, given a user’s profile in terms of their taste preferences and habits, we can identify teas which they would like with a high degree of probability,” explains founder Kaushal Dugar.

Prices: Rs 999.50 onwards per box, with discounts on subscription of 3, 6 and 12 months

Singh Styled

What you get: Grooming products aimed at Sikh men

Founder Charanjeev Singh tells us that his inspiration behind this box is the 30 million Sikhs around the world who have limited grooming and styling options. “Every month, our team curates a subscription box based on skin complexion, weather, festival/event etc. Each box contains a pre-washed turban, 2-3 beard grooming products and 1-2 lifestyle products such as ties, socks and pocket squares,” he says.

Buyers are not restricted to India; there have been purchases from Canada, the UK, Singapore, the USA and Malaysia too. “Interestingly, about 50 per cent of the people buying the box are non-Sikhs who want to gift it to their Sikh friends,” adds Singh.

Prices: Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,500 for Basic and Lifestyle boxes respectively.

My Gift Box

What you get: Specialised boxes for cocktail making, perfumes, grooming and more

The company offers 30 types of monthly subscription boxes – some of the unlikely ones being targeted at senior citizens, pregnant women and an India Box that showcases the best of the country. Rs 50 from the sale of each box is donated for the welfare of underprivileged children. “Our Adam box, which has grooming products for men, is among the fastest movers. We are getting subscriptions for 6 months and 1 year too, and from Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities,” says co-founder Basil Varghese, whose plans include taking the company international.

Prices: Rs 600-1,000 per box for one month, with discounts on subscriptions of 3, 6 or 12 months.

Pepperbox

What you get: Assorted lifestyle products

Following the success of its monthly assorted box for women, Sugarbox branched out into subscription boxes for men under the name Pepperbox. The first one included everything from superhero socks and airplane-shaped cuff links to a power bank and hair wax. The good part? You pay an amount that’s supposedly around half the actual price of the items you receive. Founder Niharika Jhunjhunwala says “Gone are the days when only women liked to pamper themselves. These days, men are equally passionate consumers who want to indulge in some ‘me-therapy’.”

Price: Rs 2,299 (for items worth Rs 5,000)

The Moja Club

What you get: Socks

It was while studying in the UK that Joey Saha discovered subscription boxes and signed up for a number of them. The thrill of receiving a package every month without knowing its contents clicked with him, and back home now, it inspired him to start The Moja Club. “Being a long time enthusiast of quirky socks, I felt like there was a severely undernourished gap in the market for high quality and well-designed socks. In more developed markets, socks are seen as an essential fashion item. They also suffer a higher perishability than other clothing items, due to friction and wear, so a subscription model spares the buyer the inconvenience of having to repeatedly make purchases,” he explains.

Soon enough, more sizes as well as liners and ankle-length socks will be added to the roster. Saha is also toying with the idea of diversifying into underwear, ties and more.

Prices: Rs 399 per box (one pair of socks); Rs 369 per box on 12-month subscriptions

Origin One

What you get: Stationery

This five month-old brand offers a mix of basic, good quality stationery products designed in-house, and ready to ship worldwide. “It’s amazing that we’re receiving orders from bigger cities and smaller towns alike,” says founder Pushkar Thakur. “We now have a loyal following of folks who’ve switched to our thread-stitched notebooks. We sold out last month, which was both beautiful and horrible, only because we didn’t anticipate the subscription rush.”

Price: Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 for small and large boxes respectively as a one-time purchase, with discounts on subscriptions of 3, 6 or 12 months.
