These 8 Celebrities Take You Inside Their Grooming Rituals

From essential oils for the skin to clarified butter in the diet, celebs like Karan Singh Grover and Pulkit Samrat spill the beans

In the world of high-tech cameras that capture every flaw, celebrities have to be extremely particular about how they look. At the end of the day, we are a glamour-obsessed world, and looking this good doesn’t come easy. From using essential oils that keep the skin hydrated to adding clarified butter to their diet, eight celebs spill the beans on their daily grooming rituals.

VISHWAS KINI

“I believe healthy skin and hair is a direct result of clean eating and healthy living. I eat healthy, drink lots of water and stay away from junk food. This keeps my skin and hair healthy. On a day-to-day basis, I swear by a water-based cleanser and moisturizer to control excess oil and keep my skin clean – twice a day, in the morning and before bed. I have been blessed with thick, black hair that I can really play around with to change my look entirely. Before any occasion, I style my hair differently to get that extra sharp look.”

SONU SOOD

“Since we belong to the world of showbiz, it is important to take good care of yourself. Be it your physique, skin or hair, one needs to look presentable most of the time. Since I travel a lot and have to get accustomed to shooting in different climatic conditions, I take good care of my skin and my body. It’s important to take care of your skin and get regular facials done. I drink fresh fruit juices, which are high sources of vitamin and enhance my skin. Besides that, I follow my fitness regime, which removes toxins from my body.”

SAQIB SALEEM

“It’s very important to take care of yourself and look your best. One should make sure to inculcate healthy habits that lead to healthy skin and body. My grooming is more about what I eat and drink first. My day starts with a glass of warm water and fruits in the morning, which works wonders for my skin. I like to keep it simple and don’t use a lot of products. My regular products include aloe vera gel for my face and hair, hair serums and hair oils to strengthen the roots of my hair and, of course, a pedicure every 20 days helps.”

SIDHARTH MALHOTRA

“I religiously follow a morning ritual for trimming and shaping my beard. I keep my skin hydrated by drinking ample water throughout the day and use my Brylcreem Hair Styling Cream on a regular basis for events. It helps me keep my hair healthy yet stylish at the same time.”

RANVEER BRAR

“The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is check how many more grey hairs I’ve gotten. I got this beer shampoo from Copenhagen, and it is beautifully hydrating, smells like beer – that’s one of the things I use. As Punjabis, when we were growing up, we believed in this ‘ghee’ concept and at least once in a week, we used to use yogurt in our hair because it was supposed to condition it. I have to have a spoon of desi ghee every day because I believe that it’s great for the hair – butter and clarified butter is something I include in my diet because I believe it shows.”

EIJAZ KHAN

“I have a fantastic skin doctor that takes care of everything and lets me be spoilt . . . she is Dr Swati Srivastava of Sketch Clinics. What I generally do for my facial skin is have coconut water in the morning and apply a bit of that on my face also. I use Body Shop products mainly . . . I use the Body Shop facial cleanser and the Maca Root Energetic Face Protector. For a sun block, I use the UV Doux which has an SPF of 50 when I go out and that’s about it. For my makeup, I use Biotique cleansing lotion to take it off, because I apply minimal makeup. The only hair care products that I trust are LUSH, because they have brilliant products – organic and they don’t harm your hair. I try to stay away from hair products that have alcohol in them. What I do once in a while is get a hot oil treatment on my hair and that’s to take care of the dry scalp, because when you’re shooting, there are hot lights on your hair all the time. Apart from that, I should drink a lot of water, but I don’t.”

KARAN SINGH GROVER

“I don’t really have any daily grooming rituals as such, except for keeping my skin and hair clean and nails trimmed short, like it is supposed to be. Before an event or an occasion, there is one thing which I do, which is to apply hair products. Over the years, I don’t think there have been any changes in grooming rituals as such – I use different types of hair products sometimes, and when I grow a beard, if it’s long, I comb it and use wax on it so it looks a certain way.”

PULKIT SAMRAT

“I use a pH-balanced shampoo daily – it could be a baby shampoo as well, it just keeps your scalp clean, and I also use a conditioner which moisturises the hair. I apply a little bit of coconut bath oil before taking a bath, as it gives me silky-smooth skin. I also apply a jojoba oil that keeps my skin well hydrated and hence, prevents ageing. Also, for my face, I use a very sensitive skin cleanser. I also use an activated charcoal soap which kind of takes care of those breakouts that happen once in a while. Apart from that, I use lavender oil for my skin, which keeps it cool and calm, so you don’t get the redness after you shave.”
