Sony And Netflix Are Working On A 'Horizon Zero Dawn' Series
After Amazon’s ‘God of War’ And HBO’s ‘Last Of Us,’ Now ‘Horizon Zero Dawn’ Is Getting Its Live-Action Adaptation On Netflix

There’s also a Gran Turismo series in the works apparently

After shipping off Kratos and Atreus over to Amazon Prime Video, folks at Sony have decided to send Aloy and the Machines to Netflix, for her own television debut. As per reports, the tech giant is working with the OTT platform to develop a series adaption of PlayStation’s Horizon Zero Dawn game.

In case you’ve never played Horizon, here’s a gist. The game is set in the post-apocalyptic United States where robotic creatures, known as Machines, roam free. We play as a young hunter named Aloy who’s on the journey to uncover the past and seek some answers.

Ever since its debut in 2017, Horizon has been one of Sony’s most popular titles, receiving a number of accolades like Game of The Year, Best Narrative and Best Game Direction at that year’s Game Awards. The sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, was released on PlayStation 4 & 5 in February to similar critical acclaim.

In hindsight, it makes sense that Netflix wants to jump in on the opportunity. With Amazon Prime Video developing the God Of War show and HBO’s upcoming Last Of Us adaption, the streaming giant is trailing behind. Coupled with its falling subscriber base and you’ll see why the executives are seconds away from hitting the panic button.

That being said, the Horizon series isn’t the only video game adaptation which is at work at Netflix. The streaming giant is also developing a Resident Evil series, the Cuphead Show, a new Bioshock movie and more.

As far as Sony is concerned, most of its exclusives have already been greenlit to be made into live-action adaptions, including the upcoming Ghosts of Tsushima film. But what’s more surprising here is the company’s intention of developing a Gran Turismo series, which might be helmed by Neil Blomkamp of District 9 and Chappie fame. That’ll be an interesting one to look out for.
