It was just a few months ago when Sharddha Kapoor announced her next project. The actress will be seen essaying a double role for the first time in Chaalbaaz In London. While the actress is busy prepping for the film, rumours have rifed that Alia Bhatt was the first choice for the film.

According to several reports, producer Manmohan Shetty of Chaalbaaz In London was initially keen on getting Bhatt on board for the film. The Kalank actress, however, could not give a nod to the film due to her prior commitments and the shift in her work schedule due to the pandemic. And since things did not fall in place with Bhatt, the team approached Kapoor for the role.
Chaalbaaz In London was also rumoured to be a remake of Sridevi-led blockbuster, Chaalbaaz (1989). Since director Pankaj Parashar, who helmed Sridevi’s film, was roped in for Shraddha Kapoor’s film, people thought the film was indeed a remake. Kapoor playing a double role also indicated the same. The rumours were, however, shunned by Parashar later.
“This will be my first-ever double role and it will definitely be challenging for any actor,” Shraddha had said at the time of the announcement of the film. She went on to add, “It’s a great opportunity and a learning experience for me to work with Pankaj sir who has entertained us for so many years.”
Parashar has the said, “Shraddha is like magic on screen. I believe she is going to blow away audiences with her double role. For me, there is nobody better than her for a film like ‘Chaalbaaz In London’.”
As for Alia Bhatt, she has her kitty full of promising projects. The actress has Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan and is directed by Ayan Mukerji of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. She also has Gangubai Kathiawadi, the filming for which was wrapped up last month. It is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Now, she is currently busy prepping for her maiden production Darlings, which she is co-producing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. The upcoming dark comedy also stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma and Roshan Mathew.
