Alia Bhatt’s RRR To Akshay Kumar And Rajinikanth’s 2.0, Indian Films Shot In Ukraine

In recent years, a number of Indian films and series including RRR, 99 Songs, Dev, Winner, and Special Ops were filmed across Ukraine

On February 24th, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a ‘military operation’ in Ukraine after months of unrest. The country, which has been a popular choice for the shooting of films and shows, now stands in a state of peril. In recent years, a number of Indian films and series including RRR, 99 Songs, Dev, Winner, and Special Ops were filmed in various locations in Ukraine. Let’s take a look at some Indian films that were shot in Ukraine.

 

RRR

The last schedule of Alia Bhatt’s debut Telugu film, RRR, was shot in Ukraine. The team headed to the country in August 2021 for the final schedule. The “Naatu Naatu“ song, as well as some crucial combat sequences, were set in Ukraine. RRR is helmed by SS Rajamouli and stars Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, Shriya Saran, and Olivia Morris in important roles.

 

Special Ops 1.5: The Himmat Story

The second season of the Hotstar series was also shot in several Ukrainian locations. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the show looks closely at the rise of its protagonist, Himmat Singh (played by Kay Kay Menon) at RAW.

 

Dev

The Tamil romance and action film, Dev released in 2019 was partly shot in Ukraine. Written and directed by Rajath Ravishankar, the film stars Rakul Preet Singh and Karthi in leading roles. The plot is loosely based on Kapil Dev’s life.

Akshay Kumar, Rajinikanth, and Amy Jackson’s 2.0 was shot in Ukraine. AR Rahman’s song, “Roja Khadal”, shows us the country’s Tunnel of Love.

 

99 Songs

99 Songs that stars newcomers Ehan Bhat and Edilsy Vargas, showed us beautiful parts of the country. Aditya Seal, Lisa Ray and Manisha Koirala were seen in supporting roles.

 

Winner

The film’s director claimed that Winner was India’s first film to be shot in Ukraine. The 2017 Telugu action-comedy film stars Sai Dharam Tej, Rakul Preet Singh, and Jagapati Babu in leading roles. The film was shot in Kyiv, Lviv, and Istanbul.
