Irrfan Khan’s demise was a huge shock for the entertainment industry. Even after almost a year of losing him, the memories of his work are still fresh in everyone’s mind. The actor, who was last seen in Angrezi Medium, was posthumously awarded two trophies at the Filmfare Awards 2021, and Ayushmann Khurrana presented the award to his son, Babil Khan. This was a touching moment for him as he went on to pen down an emotional note for the Karwaan actor.

Taking it to Instagram, Khurrana posted a picture of Khan, and celebrated his ‘double win’ at the Filmfare Awards. He captioned the post, saying, “This is somewhere in Bandra. But he is somewhere resting in peace. Celebrating his double win. Forever Irfan! Best Actor (male) and the lifetime achievement award!”

“I had the honour of presenting this @filmfare award to @babil.i.k. Met this beautiful boy for the first time. Would see him do well in future. We artistes are a unique species. We have our vulnerabilities and imaginations and theories. We rely on observations and experiences. We live and die a thousand deaths on the celluloid or on stage. But the power of those performances makes us immortal,” added the Andhadhun actor.

Khan was bestowed with awards in two categories: Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for his performance in Angrezi Medium and a Lifetime Achievement Award. He passed away at the age of 54 in April 2020 after battling a rare form of cancer. Khan’s son is now often seen sharing anecdotes from his life on Instagram as well.

The award night was a moving event for Khan’s son Babil as well. He took to his Instagram stories to share a few glimpses of how he got ready up to attend the ceremony. He arrived wearing a long blue jacket and loose pants for the event, which belonged to his father originally. He also shared a picture with his mother Sutapa Sikdar, as they posed together ahead of the event.
