Bhoot Police, which recently premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, is getting mixed reviews from the audience. Not a week into its release, the producers of the film has confirmed the sequel of the horror-comedy. Bhoot Police 2 will mark Arjun Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s return as the leads.

“The template of Bhoot Police allows the makers to spin it into a franchise. While the makers had kept an open ending to hint at the possibility of a sequel, we hear that the team has already started early conversations on Bhoot Police 2. The idea is to continue the franchise bringing horror and humour together and making the ghost hunter face new challenges in different terrains of India,” a source close to the development told Pinkvilla.

The source further added, “It’s still some time for Bhoot Police 2 to take off. In fact, there is a high possibility of Race 4 happening before the horror-comedy, as the scripting of the action thriller is already going on in full swing.” Bhoot Police 2 will be the second franchise film that Turani will back after Race.

Ramesh Taurani also confirmed the development and revealed, “Yes, we are definitely planning a sequel to Bhoot Police. The audience is enjoying the first part and I am looking forward to taking it forward with the team.”

Directed by Pawan Kripalani, the film is backed by Taurani and Akshai Puri. It is co-produced by Jaya Taurani. The film premiered on the OTT platform on September 10. In the film, Khan and Kapoor play ghost hunters- Vibhooti and Chiraunji, who are on a mission with Maya (Yami Gautam) and Kanika (Jacqueline Fernandez) to ward off a wicked spirit that resides in a small town in the mountains. Within a few days of its streaming, the film has garnered quite some appreciation from the audience.
