Bollywood Songs Used By Hollywood Before The K3G Track in Bridgerton S2
Bridgerton Season 2 To Feature A ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’ Track, Here Are 5 Times Bollywood Songs Made It To Hollywood

The second season of Bridgerton will include an orchestra cover of the title track from Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham,’ composed by Kris Bowers.

While a Justin Bieber or a Drake track can make anyone groove instantly, there is nothing that can match the energy of Bollywood songs. Hollywood also seems to agree as we have often seen filmmakers use Hindi songs for some funky background score in their films and shows. Recently, it was announced that Bridgerton Season 2 will also feature an iconic Bollywood song and it is from none other than a Karan Johar film.

The second season of the Netflix show will include an orchestra cover of the title track from Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (K3G). The melody is being composed by Kris Bowers. The show will also have cover versions of songs including Nirvana’s “Stay Away,” Madonna’s “Material Girl,” Rihanna’s “Diamonds,” Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own,” Alanis Morissette’s “You Oughta Know,” “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles, Calvin Harris’ “How Deep is Your Love,” and “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus.

Interestingly, this is not the first time that a Bollywood track is being used in a Hollywood project. Be it “Chaiyya Chaiyya,” or “Mera Joota Hai Japani,” even Hollywood can’t seem to ignore Hindi songs.

Here Are 5 Songs That Have Been Used In Hollywood Films:

“Chaiyya Chaiyya” from Dil Se

Spike Lee’s 2006 movie Inside Man featured the song “Chaiyya Chaiyya.” This popular track features Shah Rukh Khan and Malaika Arora, and is from the 1998 film Dil Se.

“Urvasi Urvasi” from Kadhalan

A. R. Rahman is a global star and has often worked on Hollywood projects. His song “Urvasi Urvasi” was used by Garth Davis in his 2016 movie titled Lion. The song is originally from the 1994 Tamil film Kadhalan, which starred Prabhu Deva and Nagma.

“Mundian To Bach Ke Rahi” by Punjabi MC

“Mundian To Bach Ke Rahi” is the ultimate bhangra dancing song that’s part of every party and it’s hard not get up and dance. The song was used in the trailer for the 2012 political satire comedy film The Dictator.

“Mera Mann Tera Pyaasa” from Gambler

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet is a special film for many reasons. What makes it even more special for its Indian fans is the fact that the song Mohammed Rafi’s “Mera Mann Tera Pyaasa” from the movie Gambler was used in the 2004 film.

“Mera Joota Hai Japan” from Shree 420

The song “Mera Joota Hai Japani” from Shree 420 is featured in the opening scene of Deadpool. The song was composed by Shankar-Jaikishan and is one of the most popular songs crooned by Mukesh.

Based on the novels by Julia Quinn, Bridgerton Season 2 is created by Chris Van Dusen. The Netflix show is produced by Shonda Rhimes, and is her first project for Netflix. The first season is currently the second most-watched show ever, after Squid Game. The show has also been renewed for another two seasons already.
